Sketchavember Days 24-30
The final 6 days of Sketchavember. I went back to pencil and paper drawings, I was too lazy to scan and upload them all and then they just...multiplied LOL.
Sketchavember was a fun learning experience, but closer to the end it became very mentally exhausting and more and more sketches lacked creativity. On top of that, I started doing two drawings in a day because I couldn't come up with anything the day before, or I wasn't home, etc. I don't think I'd do Sketchavember again next year, but I'm glad I at least tried it this year.
Sketchavember Day 25
Sketchavember Day 26 - A monster design, I was going for the ballet teacher look.
Sketchavember Day 27 - An idea for a holiday picture.

Sketchavember Day 23
Sketchavember Day 23 - Photoshop 7.0
I'm running out of ideas of what to draw. So I drew a Kikwi from Skyward Sword. I LOVE Kikwis.

Sketchavember Days 17/18 and 19
Sketchavember Days 17/18 - Photoshop 7.0
I forgot to upload this on here the other day. I was working on the skin, lines and face for the mermaid picture.
Sketchavember Day 19 - Photoshop 7.0
The one thing with this "sketch a day" thing, you run out of ideas. Quickly. So I decided to just color more.

Sketchavember Day 16
Sketchavember 16 - Photoshop 7.0
Just a simple mermaid sketch, had a long day today so I'm too tired to go into much detail. Did a little bit more focus on body (torso and arms...not so much hands haha). Not sure what she's looking at, I didn't think that far LOL.

Just a simple sketch to relax, I've been working on a few pictures today so just a sketch for today's Sketchavember.

Sketchavember Day 14 - Photoshop 7.0
Yet ANOTHER portrait style study, with slightly better coloring imo. A part of a larger picture that I hope to finish...someday. And yes, I'm 20 minutes late but I was so busy working on the hair and lost track of time LOL.

I "cheated" again, and colored yesterday's Sketchavember LOL. I think I'm doing better with the digital coloring.

Just another face study, there WAS a body to this one but I didn't feel like working on it so I stuck with the face.

Sketchavember Day 10 - Photoshop 7.0
An update of the previous picture, the face much more done than before. Does an update of a moving-along picture count? Is that cheating? Oh well, I don't care LOL I'm being creative.

Sketchavember Day 8 and 9
Sketchavember Day 8 - Pencil
I just plain didn't feel like fighting with my scanner to upload this yesterday haha.
Sketchavember Day 9 - Photoshop
Practicing more with my digital coloring. I might continue the rest of Sketchavember practicing my digital coloring skills, I'm really not pleased with how I paint in photoshop (my own fault for not practicing it enough....)

Sketchavember 7
Sketchavember 7 - Photoshop
Something VERY different, I know. practicing a little bit of digital coloring since I thought I've posted way too many unfinished sketches and black and white work. So I went with this. It's funny, I can shade and color a face in every medium but this one easily. I guess I should be doing more digital experiments, practice makes perfect.

Sketchavember Day 6
Sketchavember Day 6 - Mechanical Pencil
Even though I wasn't at home or anywhere near a scanner, I did have time to draw a quick doodle for Sketchavember and took an iPod photo of it. A day late posting again, I should probably see if there's an app for blogspot so I can upload here too even while not at home or near a computer. Sketchavember 7'll be up later today.

Sketchavember Days 3, 4 and 5
Sketchavember Day 3 - Pencil.
I'm not sure why Blogspot wouldn't let me upload any images :/ so here I'm three days behind. In this picture, I was just simply working on profile views, another not-so-strong suit of mine in art. Excuse the crappy ipod photo, I had actually forgotten about Sketchavember right as I went to bed, so I quick got up and sketched the first thing that came to mind. LOL.
Sketchavember Day 4 - Photoshop 7.0
Just a screenshot of a picture I was hoping to finish one day. I wanted to go in a different direction than this one. I might start over until I get the result I was envisioning.
Sketchavember Day 5 - Micron Pens over pencil sketch
I wasn't feeling it today honestly. I normally try to think of what I want to draw throughout the day until I settle on something or become inspired. But not today (except for the creepy ballerina heels...). So I just shut off my brain and let my pen and music do the talking.

Sketchavember Day 2
Sketchavember Day 2 - Mechanical Pencil and other Pencils
Just another simple sketch, this time of my favorite Russian fairytale protagonist Vasilisa from my favorite Russian fairytale Vasilisa the Beautiful. Portrait style faces aren't my strong suit so I thought Sketchavember sketches would be perfect to try it (since the idea of Sketchavember is to not worry about perfection, just to enjoy the creativity). Though some of the proportions of the features are off, I'm rather proud of the face.

Sketchavember Day 1
Day 1 Sketchavember 2011 - Mechanical Pencil
This year I decided to participate in the annual "Sketchavember" challenge. Basically, every day for the month of November, you create a doodle or finished art piece. Mine was something very simple for the first day, nothing fancy. Plus I had no music to work with until the very end, working in silence is very difficult for me LOL.

Beware the Angler
"Beware the Angler" - India Ink, Copic and Prismacolor Markers, Acrylic
Just in time for Halloween! I've been working on and off on a few monster sketches, this one happened to be completed first because I had this in mind for a long time. Didn't quite come out the way I envisioned it but I'm pleased with the result. It was a nice change from my dainty little fairies...and I have a strange fascination with anglerfish....;
an·gler

Purple Moor
Purple Moor - Adobe Photoshop 7.0
I'm terrible at titles. This is finally done though! And I know bluebells don't grow individually like that but who cares? I don't, it's a practice painting haha.

Progress 3
Progress 3 - Adobe Photoshop 7
Getting there slowly but surely. Not really dedicating all my time to it, that's mainly why. I only work on it here and there just solely to experiment with things and fix stuff as I go along. And thank god for copy and paste! I never would have gotten the second, lower bluebell like I wanted without it!

Progress...
Work in Progress - Adobe Photoshop 7
Just a screenshot of something I'm working on. Not sure what style of digital coloring I want to have, if I want to keep the lines or not, etc. I still say I'm more of a traditional artist than a digital one but we'll see where this goes.

The Forest Guardian
"The Forest Guardian" - Pencil
It's been a while since I posted anything. I haven't really drawn much lately, nothing that made me want to continue past the rough skeleton sketch anyway. Just this and another drawing (which I'm practicing computer coloring with, maybe I'll post that later) survived. I'd like to continue further with this drawing, or make another one similar to this.

Message for my love
"Message for my Love" - Pencil, white colored pencil, white gel pen.
The fairy, knowing her love is a great distance away, sends a message of her love, the butterfly her messenger.
A grayscale picture, I didn't like the color in it too much when I scanned it. Dedicated to my boyfriend <3

Price of Vanity
"Price of Vanity" - Pencil, white colored pencil, white gel pen.
I'm very fond of monster designs (Konami's "Silent Hill" monsters never disappoint me), but I tend to lean more towards the human-like kind because drawing humans are more of my forte than beast-like monsters (but I still have respect for anyone who can draw beasts haha).
This would be a design of what I like to call a "Faceless", a creature that was vain as a living human, but in spirit became a wraith-like creature sentenced to an eternity of grotesque facial features. However, they can temporarily obtain another's identity.
I guess it could be the first installment of a "7 Deadly Sins" series, but it's been done so many times by so many artists, and I'm not even sure anymore than this would get done. Maybe though, we'll see.

La Dottoressa
And this is a sketch I did today. Separated it from the others just to keep apart "newest" and "oldest".
"La Dottoressa" - Pencil on sketchbook paper. I've had this idea in mind for a while now. I love Venetian masks, the "dottore" mask being one of my favorites. I might do a slightly bigger and color version of this at some point.
To get the ball rolling...
Here's just some of my more favorite pieces, just to get the ball rolling on this and make this blog not look so empty, and to give an idea of what kind of art to expect from me (if you haven't seen any of my work before).
"Medicine Elf" - Pencil, white gel pen, and white colored pencil on brown paper.
"The Moth Queen" - Pencil, white colored pencil, and white gel pen on brown paper. I enjoy drawing fairies very much, so expect more to come.
"Rokurokubi" - Pencil, white colored pencil, white gel pen. My take on rokurokubi, ghosts in Japanese folklore. They can extend their necks to great lengths, terrifying anyone who comes across them.
"Tigress" - Adobe Photoshop 7.0. Rarely do I ever post anything I color in Photoshop unless I'm EXTREMELY satisfied with the result. Still trying to perfect my digital coloring techniques.
